Bringing the Actuaries Brand to Life

Living the Brand

Actuaries play a critical role in many organizations. By leading the search for solutions to the most complex challenges facing businesses and societies, we are bringing the future into focus and enabling companies to make smart decisions. To continue highlighting the important role of actuaries, it's up to each of us to make sure we are living the values of the actuarial brand and taking advantage of opportunities to favorably position ourselves and our profession.

You may ask, what is the actuarial brand? It is the distinct characteristics that set actuaries apart from other professionals. It can be best summarized by the following statements:
  • Actuaries enable organizations to anticipate and manage strategic responses to the 21st century's changing economic and social needs.
  • Actuaries are rigorously trained to manage risk, offering real-world solutions to complex and important problems.
  • Anchored in centuries of helping the world understand risk, actuaries are well positioned to assume broader risk management and leadership roles.
So how can you help to bring these statements to life? We've created the Living the Brand materials to help you do just that. The materials include an overview of scenarios that you may come across in your daily interactions, and gives tips about how you can speak to value of the profession in these encounters. Additionally, in order to help you to advance the visibility of yourself and the profession, we've created a checklist for success outlining steps you can take throughout to raise your profile and support your professional success.

We hope that you'll find these materials helpful as you develop and continue in your career as an actuary.
