Nominate an Actuarial Pioneer
You’ve read the articles, but perhaps you’re wondering, “How do I or someone I feel is worthy get nominated to be an Actuarial Pioneer?”
What is an Actuarial Pioneer?
A Pioneer is an actuary who has blazed a trail for other actuaries by creating a new application for actuarial science or is among the first to apply the actuarial skill set in a nontraditional setting.
Any member of the profession who meets the above definition can be nominated to be a Pioneer!
Some questions to think about:
• Why was the Pioneer motivated to pursue new directions?
• How has the Pioneer expanded the frontiers of actuarial practice? What innovations has the Pioneer made or introduced?
• What risks has the Pioneer taken?
• What has the Pioneer done to bring North American actuarial and business expertise to other parts of the world?
How do I nominate a Pioneer?
If you have an interesting story to tell—or know someone who does—share it! We look forward to hearing your story and sharing the pioneering details with fellow actuaries and potential clients.
Simply forward the Pioneer’s name and any additional information you'd like to provide to imagewatch@soa.org. We, along with representatives from the Actuary of the Future Section, will follow up on each submission.
